CASTELLO di BARATTANO is a tiny hamlet, dating from the 1200's, medieval in character with seven medieval-style apartments which sleep from 2-6 people. 10 km from Todi, the closest large town, 20 from Perugia. 120 km north of Rome in the region of Umbria wich is called "the green heart of Italy", as it is geographically in the centre of the country and therefore easy to reach other parts of this charming country. Florence is 2 hours away, Venice almost 4 . Perugia, the capital of the region and a medieval and Etruscan town, is surrounded by other favourites such as Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, Orvieto, Gubbio, Montefalco, Todi, Norcia and Castiglione to name the most noteworthy. It is bordered by Tuscany and Lake Trasimeno, where one can indulge in environmental holidays. There is Mount Subasio behind Assisi, often covered in snow, where there is a large National Park for trekking holidays, Monte Cucco for those keen on hangliding, caves for speliologists, and Gualdo Tadino at the foot of the Appenines.
